Target Audience

The magazine 'SoFlo Sports' is intended to be read by a various amount of people. For instance, its main audience is meant to be a younger audience who are living within the southern region of Florida. This is accomplished by only featuring schools from this region within the magazine's content such as articles or covers. Also, alumni of the schools that are in this can also gain interest, by wanting to keep up with what the school has achieved in recent times. The students and student parents are target, so they are kept up to date with the school athletics. The tactics used to attract these audience members are similar to that of popular sports magazine. Such as featuring an athlete in the cover photo. This attracts all athletes within the region so that they can attempt to make the cover. Also, just typical articles that consist of game reviews or athlete's lifestyle will be used to attract a viewership of those who maybe want to become a more of an athlete, they can base it off of the articles. A way to gain a larger audience or make the brand itself more aware among the public would be to maybe add stickers inside the magazine itself. The typical addition to a magazine is a poster, but stickers would make more of an impact. A poster stays within the room of a person who reads the magazine. Stickers however, can be put onto phone cases or bumpers of cars, this then allows the world to see it, making them more aware of the magazine and possible wanting to buy it. One of the more commonly found bumper stickers found of the majority of Floridians cars is the 'SoFlo' sticker. A partnership could be made with the company that produces this sticker and then distributed along with the magazines.

The only change within the magazine were a few grammatical errors and an addition to the cover. The cover now has an issue date, "December, 2018." This was added to keep some similarities between our magazines.

Target Audience Research

ESPN the magazine, has is one of the top competitors with sports magazines. They are at the top of the game alongside Sports Illustrated. Their magazine gains a lot of attention since they also own one of the largest sports broadcasting channels in the United States and in other foreign countries. They feature a variety of sports, some unknown or not as popular sports such as rugby. This widens the spectrum of viewers immensely, since magazines such as Sports Illustrated does not feature sports such as rugby or cricket. The magazine has typical features that would attract your younger audience, such as featuring current top players within different sports. They also have sponsored athletic complexes at places such as the ESPN World of Sports near Disney World in Orlando Florida. This means that who ever passes the sign, now is aware of the brand itself. This is how they gain majority of their exposure for the magazine and is overall a good tactic.

Feedback/Revisions

Overall, the feedback was good. There were minor issues with the magazine such as some white space, lack of photo variety, and needing to justify the text. For the magazine, the plan is to add photos in the table of contents of different sports such as basketball or other sports in general. Also, the pages as a whole may need to be redone, but maintain the exact same design. This is because in the process of making the magazine, the pages were exported at different resolutions, making some pages have a lower quality look than the others. The cover needs more text or better use of space since there is a large gap in the middle, so that page will be edited. Another important change that may occur is a change in the title. The magazine is targeting specifically one school, which does not open the viewing to many people other than those who attend Sarasota High School. In order to make the magazine target a larger audience, the title may be changed to 'SoFlo Sports' in order ...
