Revisions: Table of Contents

Before For the table of contents, a whole new layout was designed in order to fill in white space and to display more of the content within the magazine. Not to many additions other than a column and the placement of feature's titles were changed. Adding the majority of the articles rather than a select few also give the reader more insight as to what they will be reading. After

The traditional method for distributing a magazine seems to be the most successful one for publishers. This method is sending physical copies to different locations so that it can be purchased. Typically, a mass amount of the single edition of a magazine are printed and then sent to various venders, whether it be a grocery store or at a convenience store. They are sold by edition, whether it be weekly or monthly. They can normally be found at checkouts, which male the customer more likely to buy it since it is a last minute buy and the cover will appeal to them because they pop out. Another way magazines are distributed is straight to their doorsteps. People can subscribe to the publisher and have the magazines mailed to their homes, or wherever they please. This is typically how magazines are purchased because the subscriber loves receiving a magazine. The magazine 'SoFlo Sports' is intended to be read by a various amount of people. For instance, its main audience is meant to be a younger audience who are living within the southern region of Florida. This is accomplished by only featuring schools from this region within the magazine's content such as articles or covers. Also, alumni of the schools that are in this can also gain interest, by wanting to keep up with what the school has achieved in recent times. The students and student parents are target, so they are kept up to date with the school athletics. The tactics used to attract these audience members are similar to that of popular sports magazine. Such as featuring an athlete in the cover photo. This attracts all athletes within the region so that they can attempt to make the cover. Also, just typical articles that consist of game reviews or athlete's lifestyle will be used to attract a viewership of those who maybe want to become a more of an athlete, they can

Sports Magazine has a more restricted target audience. This is because their main feature is always a popular European sport. They mostly feature soccer and rugby, which may not be as appealing to people in say the United States. However, this doesn't change their success, since soccer is the most watch sport in the world. They do not use any other special tactics, only the basic ones such as players who are in their primes and are doing well on the cover. They also have a very distinguishable cover style that is almost comparable to that of a fashion magazine. This may appeal to other audience members. However, it does not seem to be intentional, only trying to differ from other sports magazines.

ESPN the magazine, has is one of the top competitors with sports magazines. They are at the top of the game alongside Sports Illustrated. Their magazine gains a lot of attention since they also own one of the largest sports broadcasting channels in the United States and in other foreign countries. They feature a variety of sports, some unknown or not as popular sports such as rugby. This widens the spectrum of viewers immensely, since magazines such as Sports Illustrated does not feature sports such as rugby or cricket. The magazine has typical features that would attract your younger audience, such as featuring current top players within different sports. They also have sponsored athletic complexes at places such as the ESPN World of Sports near Disney World in Orlando Florida. This means that who ever passes the sign, now is aware of the brand itself. This is how they gain majority of their exposure for the magazine and is overall a good tactic.

Sports Illustrated has a well renown magazine that has various strategies to open up their viewership. There are obvious methods such as having an athlete with recent outstanding performance feature on the cover. This attract all lovers of sports and most likely younger audiences who are looking at popular athletes as inspiration. However, one of there more unknown tactics is their artist feature they have in their magazine. Ever since the early years that this magazine made publications, they have featured the work of artists. A portrait featured on the cover by artist Robert Riger. This creates a competition for artists who want their work featured in an issue of the magazine. In order to see whose been published, the magazine must then also be look through, therefore forcing the reader to purchase or in some way view the magazine. Revisions: Cover

Before:  After: A few revision were made to the cover. For instance, the title was revised so that the quality was better, making the text look sharper and less rigid. Also, there was a change in the name of the title, so that the target audience would have a wider spectrum. Rather than being restricted to Sarasota, it is now broadened to all of southern Florida. There were also changes to the features so that there was more cohesiveness between the members of the group.
